Clear Choices About Cookies

EventfulDay cookie policy

1. About this cookie policy

This cookie policy explains how EventfulDay Limited uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at https://eventfulday.co.uk, and the choices you have about them. It should be read alongside our privacy policy, which explains more generally how we collect and use personal data.

References in this policy to “EventfulDay”, “we”, “us” and “our” are references to EventfulDay Limited (company number 14688368, registered office: 41 St. Thomas’s Road, Chorley, England, PR7 1JE; ICO registration number ZB606994).

2. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device (computer, tablet or phone) when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences and choices, and to provide information to website owners.

This policy also covers similar technologies that store or read information on your device or process information about it — for example, embedded content from other websites. For simplicity, we refer to all of these as “cookies”.

3. How we ask for your consent

When you first visit our website, a banner asks whether you accept the cookies that are not strictly necessary. You can:

  • Accept All — allow all cookies described in this policy;
  • Reject All — allow only strictly necessary cookies; or
  • Customise — choose which categories to allow, using the individual toggles.

Rejecting is always as easy as accepting, and no optional category is ever pre-selected. Cookies in the optional categories are not set, and embedded content that uses them is not loaded, unless you have said yes.

Your choice is remembered for up to 12 months. You can change your mind at any time by selecting Cookie settings in the website footer, which reopens the preferences panel. If you clear your browser’s cookies, we will ask again on your next visit.

We keep a record of the consent choices made through the banner (see section 9).

4. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the website to work — for example, to keep you signed in to your account or to remember your cookie choices. They do not require consent and cannot be switched off through the banner.

CookiePurposeDuration
cookieyes-consentRemembers the cookie choices you make through the consent banner.1 year
wordpress_test_cookieChecks that your browser accepts cookies when you sign in.Until you close your browser
wordpress_logged_in_*Keeps you signed in to your account while you use the website. While signed in (up to 14 days if you choose “Remember me”)
wordpress_sec_*Protects your signed-in session when you use account areas. While signed in (up to 14 days if you choose “Remember me”)
wp-settings-*Stores display preferences for your account area.1 year
wp_woocommerce_session_*Maintains your account session while you are signed in.2 days

5. Functional cookies

These cookies support features of the website that are helpful but not essential. We only set them if you accept functional cookies.

CookiePurposeDuration
Visitor location (randomised 32-character name)Remembers your country, worked out once from your internet address, so it does not need to be looked up on every page.1 day
Listing view throttle (randomised 32-character name)Prevents the same visit to a listing being counted twice in quick succession in the statistics we show to the listing’s owner.A few seconds

Listing statistics. We show venues and suppliers how often their listings are viewed. If you accept functional cookies, your visits contribute to these statistics together with technical details such as your browser, device type and country. If you do not accept functional cookies, we still count the view, but anonymously: no cookie is set, and we do not store your internet address, precise device details or location. The anonymous count uses a temporary code that cannot identify you and changes every day.

Reviews carousel. The homepage includes a customer reviews carousel provided by Elfsight, which only loads once functional cookies are accepted. It is not currently active; if Elfsight sets its own cookies when the carousel is in use, we will name them in this policy.

6. Analytics cookies

We do not currently set any analytics cookies. If we introduce an analytics service (for example, Google Analytics) to help us understand how the website is used, it will only run for visitors who have accepted analytics cookies, and we will update this policy to name the service and its cookies before it is introduced.

7. Advertisement cookies

Some listings include a video hosted by YouTube. If you accept advertisement cookies, the video player loads from YouTube (a Google service) and Google may set the cookies below. If you do not accept them, the video is not loaded and a notice is shown instead — you can change your choice at any time from that notice.

CookieSet byPurposeDuration
VISITOR_INFO1_LIVEyoutube.comUsed by Google to estimate bandwidth and for advertising and measurement purposes.6 months
YSCyoutube.comRegisters views of embedded videos within a browsing session.Until you close your browser
VISITOR_PRIVACY_METADATAyoutube.comStores your consent state for YouTube.6 months

We may in future use other marketing tools (for example, advertising pixels or mailing-list services). Any such tool will only run for visitors who have accepted the relevant cookie category, and we will update this policy to name it before it is introduced.

8. Other third-party services

Some parts of the website load content from third parties that do not set cookies, but do receive your internet address as a technical necessity when your browser requests the content:

  • Google Maps — powers the location search and the maps shown on listings. This is a core function of the website, so it is not switched off by your cookie choices; Google receives your internet address when map content loads.
  • Google Fonts — delivers the typefaces used on the website.
  • Cloudflare CDN (cdnjs) — delivers some of the website’s display components.

Details of how Google uses data are available in Google’s own privacy policy.

9. Our record of your consent

When you make a choice through the cookie banner, we keep a record of it so that we can demonstrate consent was given. The record contains the consent reference shown in your banner cookie, the choice you made, the categories accepted or rejected, the page you were on, the date and time, and a one-way coded version of your internet address. We keep these records for 12 months.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example, when cookies are added, removed or changed. Material changes will be flagged through the consent banner, which will ask for your consent again where required.

This policy was last updated on 6 August 2026.
